By: EMU, Press Release
(EMU) – St. Kitts, March, 9th, 2017: The Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis once again benefits from the Government and people of the Republic of China on Taiwan, this time in collaboration with Simply Help anon-profit organization based in Los Angeles.

The donation was done during a brief ceremony on Thursday 9th March at the Customs and Excise Department Conference Room.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Taiwanese Embassy were in attendance to hand over goods to the various charitable organizations around St. Kitts.  Ambassador, His Excellency Gorge Gow-Wei Chiou first handed over the items to Minister of Education, Hon. Shawn Richards.

During his remarks, Ambassador Chiou thanked the volunteers at the Simply Help foundation for the donation and renewed ROC on Taiwan’s commitment to the cause. “Their efforts convey empathy and friendship of the Taiwanese people. This donation is symbolic.

This meaningful gesture signifies the close relation of our two countries. This partnership is a wonderful example of how Government and Non-Governmental Organizations could work together to help minimize the occurrence of poverty.”

ROC on Taiwan continues to play a vital role in the development of our federation, especially within the Ministry of Education, this yearly donation is just one example of their unwavering generosity. Deputy Prime Minister Richards states, “Once more we extend gratitude Ambassador Chiou, for once again coming to the assistance of the more vulnerable persons in St. Kitts and Nevis. Due to the fact that we are able to forge relationships, with Taiwan we have been able to expand our abilities to assist the less fortunate.”

He also made mention of the monetary donation that the ROC on Taiwan has recently donated to assist the furnishing/equipping of Early Childhood playgrounds.

Organizations throughout St. Kitts are set to receive these supplies, such as The Salvation Army, Red Cross, The Children’s Home, AVEC, Ade’s Place and both the Ministries of Health and Social and Community Development and the Christian community.
