BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE long-awaited opening of the luxury Park Hyatt hotel – which is being constructed over at the South East Peninsula - is still slated for summer, according to Vice President of Operations at Christophe Harbour, Jon Gersonde.

Speaking with media representatives at a recent function for journalists, he noted that since they are not responsible for the operations of the Hotel, he was would not be able to give an exact date for the opening of the hotel.

However, despite shying away from giving a date, he pointed to late June as the possible time for the opening of the hotel.

The Park Hyatt Hotel forms part of the overall development project for the Christophe Harbour company.

When the Park Hyatt and their Customs House at the Marina opens, he said it would be a big boost to the Peninsula.

“It would spark the Peninsula with more activities and things to do. And then we at Christophe Harbour have a whole myriad of different activities that we would be launching in the summer as well,” added Gersonde.

Meanwhile, the Operations VP disclosed that the Customs House at the Marina is also set to open in the summer of this year.

That facility, he explained, would house Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise and Immigration as well as the crew facility and a fitness center.

He told reporters that for them the Custom facility is one of the biggest initiatives coming on stream for 2017.

“The next big milestone for us is going to be in the summer and that would be the Customs House. It is not just a building; inside it has some many facets to it - all along the way you would see development happen down at the marina.”
