Sir Cuthbert Sebastian has died

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH the death of Sir Probyn Inniss still fresh on the minds of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, news of the death of another national stalwart has come.

     

    It has been confirmed that former Governor General Sir Cuthbert Sebastian died sometime today (Mar. 25) while at his home.

     

    He died at the age of 95 years.

     

    Sir Cuthbert served the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis as the Governor General for 17 years, ending in January 2013 when he was succeeded by Sir Edmund Lawrence.

     

    Citizens of the land have taken to social media to express their condolences to the family of Sir Cuthbert during their time of bereavement.

     

    Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has also publicly expressed condolences via his Twitter page on which he wrote, “My deepest sympathies to the family & friends of Sir Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian. Our country has lost a great son of the soil.”

     

    Sir Cuthbert would have celebrated his 96th birthday in October of this year.
