May 8th, 2017 -- SKELEC’s 2017 Customer Appreciation Month kicked off with a high note of praise on Sunday, 30 April, 2017 at the People’s Evangelistic Center (P. E. C.), Needsmust, Basseterre.
Minister of Energy Mr. Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd and approximately 70 employees together with their families worshipped with Pastor Leroy Matthew and his congregation.
It was an uplifting service with active participation from members of staff. SCADA (Supervisory Computer Access and Data Acquisition) Supervisor, Mr. Javid Gilbert read the scripture. Ms. Desiree Syder, Customer Service Supervisor, shared the scheduled activities. Ms. Ruthlin Harris, Personnel & Training Manager gave a brief history of the long association of SKELEC and the P.E.C. whereby Pastor Matthew was instrumental in the days of SKED (St. Kitts Electricity Department) and the early days of SKELEC, in supplying tables and chairs to the company free of cost, to facilitate training sessions.
It within this realm that the company presented tokens of appreciation to Pastor and First Lady Mathew.
Special recognition was given to former SKED employees: Mr. Abraham Bradshaw, driver; Mr. Jean Ward, Clerk; and Mr. Walton Tyson, Linesman; who were also in attendance.
The day cumulated with a luncheon at Sunset Café. Staff basked in the delightful setting. Some children of SKELEC were recognized for their annual attendance and a short trivia and random picks of attractive prizes thrilled the gathering.
