Five charged with Island Purified Water Burglary

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DILIGENT investigative work by sleuths from the Criminal Investigations and assistance from the public into a recent building breaking and larceny have resulted in the arrest and subsequent charge of five individuals.

     

    Police have informed that Crispin Crossley of Malone Avenue, Dounel Gaskin of New Road Housing Project, Leshawn Dore of Upper Cayon, Avionics Huggins of Lower Thibou Avenue and Marie Francis of Central Market Street were on Saturday (May 13) each slapped with charges of building breaking, larceny and receiving.

    The charges proffered against them stemmed from a break-in and larceny at the Island Purified Water outlet at the corner of Fort Thomas Road and West Bourne Ghaut on either late Monday night (May 8) or early the following morning.

    Reportedly, among the items stolen from the facility were one Microwave Oven, one 32-inch Samsung Television set, one vault, EC$225 and two Alcatel Pixie One Touch cell phone.

    A police communiqué quoted Head of the Crime Directorate, Assistant Commissioner of Police Andrea Mitchell as saying: “I want to commend the members of the public for providing useful information and also to commend Lead Investigator Detriot Henry and his team. He used his experience, sorted the evidence gathered and followed all leads. Today we were able to bring charges to five persons."”

    He stressed that the police need the continued partnership with the public and reminded how information on criminal activities could be passed on to the law enforcement organisation.

    “We urge the general public to continue to pass on information relating to suspicious conduct and activities by using 911, anonymous sources such as Crime Reporter and Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477, or by calling your local police Station.”
