Man shot at football match in Basseterre

    Basseterre, St. Kitts – PANDEMONIUM broke loose earlier this evening (May 27) at the Football Stadium in Warner Park as a male spectator was shot during a game between RAM’S Village Superstars and FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets.

     

    Information reaching SKNVibes states that some time after 7:00 p.m. during the second half of the game, sounds of gunfire were heard in the eastern direction of the stadium.

    It was then pandemonium broke loose as fans, both males and females as well as children, were seen running in various direction to ensure their safety.

    At the end of it all, it was discovered that a young man was shot to his arm and side. 

    He was immediately rushed to the JNF General Hospital, where it was learnt that he is undergoing or underwent emergency surgery.

    His name was given as Amal Whyte of St. Johnson Village.

    SKNVibes understands that while Whyte was among spectators at the game, the assailant, who is believed to have entered the facility from the eastern gate behind the Media Center at the Cricket Stadium.

    One spectator claimed that the unidentified approached, stood over Whyte and fired about four shots in his direction.

    According to the Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, the firearm used in the commission of this crime was “an air pistol/pellet gun” and two persons are in custody.
