BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH Restaurant Week slated to kick off today (July 19), proprietors and chefs of several establishments that have signed on to this year’s event, have all expressed their appreciation for the implementation of this initiative.

Several of them recently shared their thoughts with SKNVibes at the annual Tasting Showcase, which was held in the lobby of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.

Judah Fahri, owner of Ital Creations, is one of the participants in this year’s Restaurant Week.

He declared that his establishment is providing a Yam Pie with split peas in the middle and seasoned squash at the top.

“It [Restaurant Week] has helped people to get to know more about me and my business. It is a form of promoting my business while highlighting to people that there are still options out there for healthy foods. So I take advantage of that.

“So far, according to my workers, we have been getting a lot of good feedback which is a positive thing for us, because people can see there is really an option of eating healthy. So I it think it is very good,” expressed Fahri.

Carambola’s Chef Dwight Krauss indicated that they have been participating in the event for the past three years, and it has been a resounding success.

“Today we have provided some samples for the Showcase, which were Yam and Bread Pudding and Salt Fish and Yam Crocket. We have seen a significant amount of increase in our visitors. For the past two years, we’ve had to extend because it is so popular among the people.”

The owner of a small business named Yanday and Yanday by the Sea intimated that the event has given exposure to entrepreneurs like himself to a market that they had not always been able to tap into.

“I have been with Restaurant Week since its inception. People have been very receptive to my business during Restaurant Week. It is very good for business,” he added.

This year’s Restaurant Week runs from July 19 to 30 at various eateries in St. Kitts and Nevis at varying prices.
