SKNHTA – Minimal Damage to Hotels on St. Kitts and Nevis After the Passing of hurricane Maria

By: SKNHTA, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts – 21st September 2017 - The St. Kitts and Nevis Hotel and Tourism Association can report that their member hoteliers have been spared once again after the passing of hurricane Maria that passed south of our twin island federation late Tuesday into Wednesday.

Property assessments have been completed with the general feedback stating minimal damage to property and grounds with relevant hotels declaring that they still in full operation and welcoming guests. Nisbet Plantation did report however, that the hotel endured further damage to its beach facility, and therefore have made the decision to remain closed until October 4th.

The Government did declare Wednesday 20th, National Clean-up day with the essential services such as health care workers, security forces, and public works personnel reporting to work to get a full assessment of the damage in order to prepare and begin the process of getting the country back to normalcy.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Hotel and Tourism Association would like to extend their thoughts and prayers to those islands affected by hurricane Maria especially Dominica.
