BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Feb.23.2018 - THE Government used its Education, Career and Health fair to open opportunities for people in the Federation to gain meaning, employment and study opportunities.
The fair, which was held in Independence Square today, formed part of the government’s third-anniversary celebration.
Minister of Labour, Vance Amory, whilst speaking with SKNVibes, said the purpose of the fair was to bring all the key stakeholders together who have the capacity to create employment to demonstrate their offerings.
According to the minister, the event gives people a clearer understanding of the works of hotels, private sector entities, educational institutions, or the Department of Labour.
“It also allows you, who need employment, to see the opportunities that they have. It is for the persons who create jobs in the private sector to say that this is what we do; this is what is available, and therefore we can team together and create opportunities for the young people or those who may not be young but who may require employment.”
The Ministry of Labour, according to Amory, has set itself up as the repository of information for persons who are unemployed.
The fair saw approximately 50 booths of varying public and private sector organizations, including technology, law enforcement, and culture displaying their various services to the public.
The Minister said that he was happy with the turnout for the fair.
Organizers held a concert featuring some of the Federation’s biggest and brightest performers after the event.
