By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, Feb. 28.2018 – DEFENDING high school champions, the Charles E Mills Secondary School today received a boost from National Bank, as its student athletes gear up  2018 TDC Inter-High School Championships.

Today the financial institution handed over a cheque to the school for EC$13, 000 as part of its five-year clothing sponsorship package for the school.

Principal of the CEMSS, Boris Connor told SKNVibes that the donation is very significant since it allows the athletes to be outfitted with new uniforms for this year’s high school  event, noting that they will last for a number of years.

The principal said that the school and the team are confident that they can retain the title and make their sponsors proud.

“We do the work, we do the math and know what the conditions are and what is required of us,” said Connor.

Though some of their top athletes have graduated from the institution, Connor pointed out that if the recently held relay is any indication, then they will retain their title.

“We are more than confident that we can come out on top again despite the absence of those athletes.”

Asked about the secret to top athletes, the explained that it is the motivation that the students received while at the institution that propels them to perform at their best in all of their disciplines.

Marketing Manager at National Bank, Anthony Morton, said that the bank has and continues to be committed to excellence in the federation.

He stated that the educational institution has graduated many outstanding citizens that have gone on to undertake many things in the country.

Morton pointed to their Director and also Minister of Sport and Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Shawn Richards, as two of the outstanding citizens that graduated from the educational institution.

He implored the athletes to do their best at the games.

This year’s Inter-High School and Carifta Games trials will be held on March 17-18 at the Kim Collins Athletics Stadium.
