By: (SKNIS), Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 01, 2018 (SKNIS): The Department of Statistics is soliciting the cooperation of the general public to be supportive as it carries out the Living Conditions and Household Budgetary Survey which is to be conducted over four (4) phases during the period June to December, 2018.

This initiative is being undertaken by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis in collaboration with the Organization for Eastern Caribbean States Commission and the Caribbean Development Bank. One thousand two hundred and forty (1240) households were randomly selected for this survey.

Gaile Gray-Phillip, Senior Director of Statistics in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, made a clarion call for people’s full cooperation and participation if their household was selected as the survey will redound to the benefit of all.

“The survey is designed to collect information on income, education, health and living standards in order to establish the global multidimensional poverty index and related sustainable development goal indicators as a means of achieving national development objectives.  Data collection will be carried out through the use of questionnaires that will be administered through face-to-face interviews,” she said, while reiterating that “the Department of Statistics is soliciting the cooperation of the general public in completing the Survey”.

In compliance with the St. Christopher and Nevis Statistics Act of 2002, all information provided will be kept strictly confidential, and the results of the survey are to be published only at an aggregate level.  The Department of Statistics wishes to thank all participants for their fullest cooperation in the Survey.

A survey of this nature was last carried out some 10 years ago.
