BVI, 19 June 2018 - Deputy Postmaster General, Ms. Norea Baronville is reminding all post box owners that mail can be collected at the General Post Office located in the Maduro Building in Road Town.

Ms. Baronville said as a result of the hurricanes of 2017, the Territory’s postal infrastructure was severely damaged and is currently in the reconstruction phase. She said in the interim, post office box owners and users are asked to utilise the mail collection system presently in operation.

The Deputy Postmaster General is also reminding customers of the postal regulations which state that mail can be returned after a period of 30 days, if not collected by the addressee.

Ms. Baronville said customers collecting mail must provide the Postal Officer with valid identification and the post box number before the mail is released. She added that the process for collecting company mail requires a valid identification and written authorisation with the names of persons authorised to collect mail on behalf of the company.

Customers on Virgin Gorda can also collect mails from the Valley Post Office. The BVI Post offices operate from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday’s from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Customers seeking additional information about the collection of mail or other services provided by the BVI Post can telephone 468-5160 or follow the BVI Post on Facebook at username @BVI Post Office.
