Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 24, 2018 (SKNIS): In just a few days, St. Kitts and Nevis will be hosting its inaugural Diaspora Conference from June 26-28 to promote sustainable development through building partnerships between the Federation and its nationals living abroad.

The June conference will be held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort under the theme, “Building Partnership Towards Sustainable Development.” Registration for the conference is currently open at www.diaspora.gov.kn

The conference is free of charge, but attendees are encouraged to register prior attending.

“It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all of you to the first ever Diaspora Conference. This is a flagship event for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which I am privileged to lead. The aim of the conference is to engage you, get your ideas and reacquaint you with your country,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, in a statement issued inviting persons to participate in the upcoming conference.

The Diaspora Conference will target priority areas such as agriculture, the development of small and medium enterprises, renewable energy, engineering, information and communication technologies (ICTs) and tourism. An opening ceremony and cultural extravaganza will be held under the patronage of the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, on June 26.

“We invite you to invest, we invite you to lend your ideas, lend your expertise and really help us in our development of our country,” said Minister Brantley.
