By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - LAST evening (Oct. 31), a fire at the Four Seasons Resort on Nevis has left management counting its loses at a time when the busy season is about to begin.

According to media reports, the fire started around 8:00 p.m. in the areas of the Pro Shop and Fitness Centre, and was brought under control by the Fire Department without injury to anyone.

Mitchell Nover, Director of Public Relations and Communication, confirmed no injuries were reported from the blaze.

“On the evening of Tuesday, October 31, 2023, there was a fire at the Pro Shop and Fitness Centre at Four Seasons Resort Nevis. The safety and well-being of our employees and guests is our top priority and we are relieved to share that everyone is safe and unharmed. We want to extend our gratitude to our dedicated staff, as well as the local fire department and emergency services teams for their rapid response and efficient handling of the situation. As we assess the extent of the damages and develop a plan for the restoration of the facilities, the Resort remains open and welcoming guests. We would like to express our gratitude to our guests, employees, partners and the Nevis community for their support during this challenging time,” he said in a media statement.

In a post last evening, Premier Mark Brantley  said they were “shocked” by the massive fire at the Four Seasons Resort.

“Preliminary reports suggest that the gym and pro shop areas at the Resort have been destroyed but there is no damage to the main hotel or any of the guest rooms or villas. Most importantly, I am truly happy to report that there have been no reported injuries or loss of life.”

In a social media post, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew expressed “profound emotions, writing in part. “This iconic establishment has always been a source of pride and beauty in our beloved Caribbean, and the news of this fire has left us all deeply saddened”.

Meanwhile, Brantley congratulated the fire officers who battled the blaze, while extending “our heartfelt sympathies to the owners, management and staff at the Resort and pledge the Government’s fullest support and partnership in returning our landmark hotel to its former glory as quickly as possible”.
