Trinbagonian financier Angus Young for JSE appearance

    TRINBAGONIAN FINANCIER ANGUS P. YOUNG MESMERISED THE AUDIENCE when he presented at the Jamaica Security Exchange (JSE) regional conference held last year in Georgetown, Guyana.

     

    Young who joined the NCB Financial Group (‘NCBFG’) in 2014 as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its Merchant Bank (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd will be one of more than a dozen presenters at this year’s three-day meeting set for the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel from January 23-25 under the theme ‘The Drivers of Capital: From Concept to Growth’.

     

    In 2018 he was appointed Regional Head of Investment Banking at NCB Capital Markets Ltd and maintained dual roles until his appointment as Head – Regional Investment Banking & New Markets at NCB Capital Markets Ltd. on July 1, 2022. 

     

    Young’s appointment came at a time when NCB Jamaica said it was increasing its focus on wealth management and simultaneously looking to harness the strength of insurance, banking, and investment solutions to provide holistic wealth management offerings for clients.
     
    His has a stellar résumé which so far include: Director of NCB Merchant Bank (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd., NCB Capital Markets (Barbados) Ltd. and NCB Capital Markets (Guyana) Inc. 

     

    A cursory glance at his curriculum vitae (CV) also shows that before joining the NCBFG, he served as the Managing Director of BDO Financial Advisory Services Ltd., which represented BDO’s corporate finance and transaction advisory interest in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.

     

    His CV also shows that prior to joining BDO, Young served as Vice President of Business Development at First Global (Trinidad & Tobago) Ltd. With responsibilities which included managing Corporate Finance & Capital Market origination in T&T and Jamaica. 

     

    He also spent four years at republic Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (RBTT) Merchant Bank Ltd. in senior portfolios including Assistant Vice President and Regional Manager of Capital Market Origination. As AVP, Young covered the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) territories and Guyana. He currently serves as a Director of the Securities Dealers Association of Trinidad & Tobago.

     

    He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administrative & Commercial Studies (Financial & Economic Studies) from the University of Western Ontario and a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University, School of Business and Economics, Ontario, Canada.
