BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- AFTER its Annual General Meeting and elections, the Media Association of St. Kitts-Nevis (MASKN) has elected an executive to lead its affairs for the next two years.

All executive members retained their positions following the elections held at the Warner Park’s Cricket Conference Room. Andre Huie was re-elected as President, while Glen Bart also retained his position unopposed, mirroring Huie's victory.

Jermine Abel retained the Second Vice President position, facing a challenge from Merv-Ann Thompson. Devin Richardson remains as Treasurer, and Natasha Morris as General Secretary. Sharon Richards secured the Assistant General Secretary position over Chaira Flanders.

The elected representatives are tasked with advocating for the interests of journalists across the Federation. Huie stated that he aims to enhance the skill sets of journalists and media practitioners through training and development programs.

"There are several issues affecting the media in St. Kitts and Nevis that we will address promptly. We also intend to amend the constitution of the media association and encourage more active participation from our members," Huie said.

He promised to increase the level of training provided to journalists and media workers to elevate the skill level within the Federation. "Our top priority is training, training, and more training!"

Reflecting on the accomplishments of the Association's first two-year term, Huie acknowledged the progress made. "We started from scratch and achieved a lot. However, there is still much more to be done," he added.

The executive will serve a two-year term.
