CHARLESTOWN, Nevis-YOUTHFUL Nevisian All-rounder Nelson Bolan has been included in the West Indies under 19 cricket squad which will be participating in the under 19 cricket world cup slated for New Zealand.
Rumours of his selection were circulating around Nevis, since earlier in the week. This was however confirmed by the newly reelected President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Ronald Powell, who indicated in a phone interview: “Yes Nelson is in and I want to congratulate him and wish him well. As a matter of fact I have his ticket here to New Zealand”.
Bolan is expected to leave the Federation on December 31st to make the long trip with his teammates to continue the longstanding tradition of Nevisians who have excelled at the highest level of the sport.
Included in the squad that so ably represented the West Indies in the last youth world cup was Kieran Powell now West Indies senior player.
The other Nevisian up for possible selection in Kejel Tyson failed to impress sufficiently to get into the final squad.
Andre Coley has been appointed head coach of the West Indies team for the Under-19 World Cup.
Coley, 35, a former Jamaica wicketkeeper, played seven first-class matches and 10 List A games. The tournament runs from January 15th to 30th 2010.
