‘Wifey vs. Matey…good to go’

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE ladies definitely went out and represented in their colours last night (May 2) at Club Kactus for the dance party dubbed ‘Wifey vs. Matey’.

Although the club did not attain its capacity until sometime after 2:00 a.m, most of the people who were there seemed to be having a ‘whale’ of a time.

The colours for the party were black for the wifey and white for the matey. Many people wore white while others mixed their colours, but black dominated the night as most of the ‘wifeys’ represented and did it well.

Evolution got things started with some early juggling of songs from the olden days to recent ones.  It was then time for Sweet Sister Sensia, who took down the tempo a bit with some slow jams.

Meanwhile, as she got heated up, the lone female DJ played from R&B to Hip Hop then got back into some dancehall.

It was definitely a ladies night event as the DJs kept playing music mostly about the ladies but dropped a few for the men once in a while.

As various songs played, many women strutted across the dance floor or ‘walk out’ as locals say, while others gyrated and got hyped as a song was played that related to them.

Although Antigua’s Wardadli SoulJahs Sound did not make the party due to unknown circumstances, the Evolution Sound held down the rest of the night and gave the ladies their money’s worth.

According to Tonic Promotions and the Evolution Family who were both responsible for promoting the event, they were happy with the turnout and would absolutely be doing it again.

The Tonic promoter added that “this is what I wanted to see, the ladies come out and have fun and that was achieved”.

Indeed, the promoters kept their word when they said “we partying till morning”, as the party ended at almost 7:00 a.m.
