Wedding Symposium Launches!

~~Adz:Right~~ Basseterre, St. Kitts 23rd April 2008 – Wedding planners, florists, photographers, graphic artists and other stakeholders in the wedding and honeymoon industry in St. Kitts received their first taste of the Wedding Symposium held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on Tuesday. The proceedings were started with some encouraging words given by the Minister of State of Tourism Sport and Culture, Richard Skerritt.

During his opening remarks, he noted that, “The destination weddings and honeymoon business has quite a wide array of stakeholders who come together to make it possible for visitors who seek out a destination like ours, where they want to have one of the most exciting times of their lives go smoothly and seamlessly while being cost effective.”

Featured speakers included Candice Kimmel of Adams Unlimited, a public relations firm based in New York, Sue Gillman and Diane Smith of Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine and Natalie John of Dreamy Weddings, a St. Lucian based wedding planning company.

The Wedding Symposium was a joint collaboration between the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Bridal Guide Magazine and Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Magazine. It seeks to update, inform and educate local wedding and honeymoon stakeholders of new and developing opportunities within the industry. This includes opportunities in cruise weddings, creating a marketplace for first and second weddings and using the internet as an effective marketing tool.

The mission of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority is the promotion of the island destination in all its regional and international markets.
