BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – BEST J’Ouvert Troupe winners of Sugar Mas 40/40, Red Devils in conjunction with Fat Tuesday will be hosting their victory party today, March, 9, at the popular after work lime.
The action kicks off from 5:00 p.m. and will feature music by TNO Sounds, Nu Vybes Band and more.
At last year’s carnival, the Red Devils’ Troupe introduced their ‘Angels’ section along with their popular Red devil gear, under the theme ‘Are You Naughty or Nice?’
It was the second time in carnival history the troupe had participated in the J’Ouvert celebration after the first appearance which had close to 1000 participants.
Antoine Laws, one of the organizers of the troupe said they waited this long to have the event because they were waiting on the official prize giving ceremony to be held by the National Carnival Committee, which took place March 3.
“This is something for our revelers, and something to show appreciation to the fans and all Carnival winners. We have invited Carnival winners to come out and enjoy the day, not just Red Devil revelers but everyone who took part in the Carnival festival.
“We thought it would be good to have everyone celebrating and a good way of closing off Carnival,” he said.
Admission is free for all and there will also be prizes and giveaways to be won.
The creative minds behind the troupe are Antoine Laws, Losana Laws, Kimbel Jeffers, Omari Mason and Andrew Arthurthon.
The Red Devils J’Ouvert troupe amassed a total of 192 points just three points ahead of second place winners Xtreme who amassed 189 points while Winn Jammers gathered 149 points and placed third for the Best J’Ouvert Troupe win at National Carnival 2011/2012.
