Singing Angie whose real name is Andrea Walters passed away this morning (April 25) at the Joseph N. France Hospital at the age of 41.

He informed that she had minor surgery two weeks ago and said that he remembers his mother saying the area where she was cut seemed to be affecting her and that she did not feel 100% or felt like anything worked out.

“Last night she went into the hospital because she said she was feeling weak and the hospital said they would admit her, and then they called us this morning and said she passed.

“It was real surprising because it was just last night I talked to her and I told her that when I done work today I would pass by her but…” he said.

Singing Angie is the mother of three children, two boys with Javid being the oldest and a daughter.

Javid describes his mother as a powerful, energetic and strong, black woman who enjoyed singing, relaxing with friends, going to parties once in awhile and simply enjoy talking to people in general.

She was employed as a Security Guard at the International University of Nursing.

Singing Angie has been in the calypso arena for a number of years, and has won several crowns including the Green Valley crown, Best of the Rest and Ring Bang Calypso crown.

She was the only one of two persons to win back to back as Green Valley Calypso Monarch.

She will be missed by the entire calypso fraternity and fans who always enjoy and look forward to her contributions each year.

An autopsy is expected to be performed to determine the cause of death.
