CHARLESTOWN Nevis, June 1st, 2012 -- It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of the Hon. Dr. Simeon Daniel, the first Premier of Nevis and a national icon in the political history of our twin-island Federation. Dr. Daniel’s legacy warrants little inquiry or speculation, as his contribution and commitment to our country are a matter of record.
Whether it his role in securing considerable political autonomy for Nevis, his steadfast pursuit of increased educational opportunities for our young people or engineering this country’s economic take off, he has left an indelible mark on the socio-economic landscape of this our halcyon island home.
Though we are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Daniel, we are an immensely richer country for the life that he lived and the completeness with which that life was dedicated to the people of Nevis. We can only hope that his many achievements will serve to inspire the younger generation that is charged with the awesome responsibility of carrying on his legacy.
As we continue to mourn the loss of our first Premier, H.O.P.E Nevis wishes to extend heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mrs. Sheila Daniel, his children and all other family members during this time of personal grief. May God assuage the anguish of your bereavement and may the soul of this outstanding Nevisian leader rest in eternal peace.
