Two on burglary charges, one for battery on police

    One in custody for Low Street shooting

     

    CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – TWO young men, one from Nevis and the other from St. Kitts, were charged with burglary and robbery. committed at Ramsbury on Thursday, August 2, 2012.

     

    A police release states that the two men, Ronald Robinson of Craddock Road in Nevis and Akeem Foster of Newtown in St. Kitts had committed the offences on Thursday (Aug. 2) in Ramsbury.

     

    Police have not provided details on who or what was burglarised, neither was any information given on who or which entity was robbed.

     

    This is not the first time that Foster was charged for violating the law.
    On September 23, 2008, he had appeared before Justice Francis Belle at the Basseterre High Court, charged along with four others with building breaking and larceny as well as receiving.

     

    Foster however pleaded guilty to building breaking and was scheduled to reappear on in the same court on October 1, 2008 for sentencing.

     

    He had pleaded guilty to breaking into the building which houses Frank B. Armstrong Ltd. and stole a Toshiba Laptop, a Dell Laptop and three Motorola cellular phones, all valued at $10 400. The offence was committed on April 13, 2008.

     

    Charges were also proffered against Joel Brookes of Sandy Point.
    He was charged with obstruction, malicious damage and battery on police, allegedly committed on Monday (Aug. 6).

     

    Details on these charges were also limited; for no information was provided on where the incidents took place and what led to Brookes’ alleged action.

     

    Meanwhile, police have informed that one person is in custody assisting with investigations into a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday night (Aug. 7) at Low Street, Nevis.

     

    Two men were injured in the incident – Jelani Liburd of Craddock Road and Leroy ‘Dice’ Martin of Conaree Village, St. Kitts.

     

    This publication learnt that Liburd was shot in the chest, back and leg, and Martin was shot in both legs and his hand while they were walking along Low Street sometime before midnight.

     

    They are currently convalescing at the Alexandra Hospital.

     

    Police also informed that investigations are ongoing and that “an appeal is made for anyone with information pertaining to the shooting incident to contact the police”.
