BASSETERRE, St.Kitts - PAST PUPILS of the Girls High School will meet as they have been meeting nearly every year on the Sunday nearest to the date the School was founded (Oct 19 1929), at a Service to give thanks for their Founder, their exemplary education and to pay tribute to past pupils who have blazed a trail in fulfilling the School’s motto – Ready to Serve.
This year all past pupils are invited to worship On Sunday 14th October at the Church of God, Durant Avenue, Basseterre at 10.00 a.m to commemorate the 83rd year of the founding of the School.
Although their School ceased to exist in 1967 when it merged with the Grammar School to become the Basseterre High School, and the building went up in flames in 1978, yet the school refuses to die and lives on in the memories of its former pupils.
Many of the Past Pupils have now become senior citizens but the traditions of the School still create a bond among all students at home and abroad.
This year past pupils will be remembering all those who have left this earthly plane during the past year. (Please send names if you know of any) when they sing their School Song – Forty Years on.
“Forty years on, when afar and asunder
Parted are those who are singing today,
When you look back and forgetfully wonder
What you were like in your work and your play,”
After the Service, they will motor to Manhattan Gardens where in a spirit of camaraderie they will share in a Luncheon.
