Mrs. Sherming Lewis of Bath Village Nevis, broke new ground as the first female to head the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank Limited, Nevis Branch.
She took up the mantle on the eve of the banks thirtieth year of existence and made the shareholders rest assured that she would not take her job lightly.  She said, I do not take the responsibility with which I am entrusted lightly.  In fact, I consider it a sacred trust, a charge to keep.

She told the gathering which included Permanent Secretary of Human Resources, Mrs. Venetta Hobson-Moving, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Wendell Lawrence and Legal Advisor to the Nevis Island Administration, Mr. Theodore Hobson, at the cocktail reception held in her honour, that the task at hand is a challenging one, since it is not only my duty to protect the banks integrity but also to safeguard shareholder investments.

She admitted that the task at hand was not an easy one, but was very confident that with the help of God and the continued support and guidance of Senior Management, cooperation of staff and the continued loyalty of the valued customers, she will achieve.

Mrs. Lewis applauded the efforts of the founding members of the bank whom she noted caught the vision and ran with it.  She expressed, today we look back with great admiration on the sterling achievements and major accomplishments made over the past three decades.  It is my duty therefore, to ensure that the vision is kept alive; that the vision does not die and that National Bank becomes the Bank of Choice in the Nevisian community.  I will take on that challenge.

The Managing Director, Mr. Edmund Lawrence gave brief remarks and reflected on the past thirty years of the bank.  He noted that the bank started with 50,000.00 and has US$500 million, 1/2 billion, 399 million and in any country by any people that is success.

Other remarks came from Mr. Walford Gumbs, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr. Winston Hutchinson who gave a financial highlight of the banks receipts from 1975 to 2005.

The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Donald Thompson, Senior Manager, Internal Audit, Compliance and Enforcement of National Bank Limited.
