    BASSETERRE
, ST. KITTS, APRIL 18TH 2005 (CUOPM) The ruling St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party continues its impressive home construction programme in Central Basseterre.
Workers have laid out the foundation for the building of 15 two-bedroom units at the site of the old Nutrition Unit on the corner of the Infirmary Road and Lockhart Street.

Minister of Housing, the Hon. Cedric Liburd  told the Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister (CUOPM) that 10 two-bedroom homes are also to be built on the Shirley House site,  which once housed the old Public Library on the corner of Boon Avenue and Lockhart Street.

NHC Managing Director, Mr. Henry Mills said 30 units are to be built in Central Basseterre and so a new site is being looked at to construct the remaining five two-bedroom units.

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) also plans to build 25 two-bed room units in East Basseterre. Work on the two other sites are to start shortly.

Mills said each family will occupy both the top and the bottom floors. The bottom floor will house the kitchen, living and dinning areas and the top floor, the bedrooms and private areas.

The 55-two bedroom units is to cost EC$16 million, financed through a loan from the St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board.
