Basseterre, St. Kitts (April 20, 2005): Local Director of the UNESCO Funded Small Islands Voice Committee, Mr Antonio Maynard called on committee members to re-double their efforts in catalysing positive change through proactive programmes among youth.
According to the director, the keen interest by youth in voicing their concerns on a number of areas including the environmental impact of development and other issues facing youth, must be harnessed and transformed into positive action.

The role of committee members as facilitators in inspiring creative solutions was highlighted. Members were urged to be vigilant in pin-pointing issues and creating opportunities for discussion and action among students, and young people in general.

Mr. Maynard highlighted the very prominent inclusion of the Federations Small Islands Voice related  programmes in several of UNESCOs International Publications including The Word on the Street, Voices in a changing World, and Island Communities in Action.
