Shoeshine back in prison; three others to serve 2 yrs. 7 months

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOUR men were sentenced to serve a total of two years and seven months at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP), while seven individuals were fined a total of EC$14 200 and nine individuals were arrested and charged for offences ranging from possession of illegal drugs to driving without insurance.

     

    According to a police press release, Milton Phipps, also known as Shoeshine, of Basseterre was convicted at the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court for possession of crack cocaine and sentenced to three months in prison. The offence was committed on Thursday, December 6, 2012.

     

    Also appearing in the same Court was Leroy Browne of Buckley’s Estate on a charge of larceny, which he committed between November 14 and 15, 2012. He was convicted and sentenced to serve two years at HMP.

     

    At the Sandy Point Magistrate’s Court, Keith Thomas of Dieppe bay was convicted on six charges of threatening language and was sentenced to two weeks imprisonment of each charge. The sentences are to run concurrently.

     

    And over on sister isle Nevis, Cameron Freeman of Hardtimes appeared at the Charlestown Magistrate’s Court charged with sacrilege; an offence he committed at the Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday (Feb. 16).

     

    He was convicted and was sentenced to six months imprisonment with hard labour.

     

    Ronald Isaac of Phillip’s Village and Anthony Laville of Irish Town, Bay Road also appeared at the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court and were convicted on the offences for which they were charged.

     

    Issac was convicted for battery he committed on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Wellington Road and was fined EC$800 to be paid in two months or, if in default, serve one month in prison; while Laville was convicted of assault committed on Monday, July 16, 2012 and placed on a bond of EC$1 000 to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for one year, and if in default would be jailed for six months.

     

    At the Charlestown Magistrate’s Court Seven individuals appeared at the Charlestown magistrate’s Court and were fined a total of EC$14 200.

     

    Bernice Daly of Pump Road was convicted for driving without due care and attention and was fined $800, which is to be paid in three months or in default serve one month prison, while Alvin Powell of Breziers Estate and Jervin Swanston of Webbes Ground were convicted on a similar charge and also fined $800 each with the same conditions of payment.

     

    A juvenile was convicted for larceny, which he committed on Saturday (Feb. 9), and was fined $1000 to be paid in three months or, in default, serve six months in prison.

     

    Malvern Walwyn of Hardtimes, Gingerland, Dellon Parris of Brown Hill and Jahren Leader of St. Paul’s, St. Kitts were each charged and convicted for drug offences.

     

    Walwyn was convicted for possession of Cannabis, which he committed on Friday (Feb. 15), and was fined $800 to be paid in three months or he would have to serve six months in prison with hard labour; while Parris was convicted on a similar charge that he committed on Saturday (Feb. 15) at Brown Hill. He was fined $5000, which is to be paid in six months or in default serve 12 months in prison with hard labour.

     

    And Leader was convicted for possession of cannabis with intention to supply; an offence he committed on Tuesday (Feb. 19). He was fined $5000 and was given six months to pay it or serve 12 months in prison.

     

    Kevis Hughes of Cayon was charged with larceny, which he allegedly committed on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, while Dellon Parris of Brown Hill was charged with possession of cannabis, which he committed on Saturday (Feb. 16).

     

    Malvern Walwyn was charged with two counts of house breaking and larceny; offences he allegedly committed on Saturday (Feb. 9), while Vincent ‘English’ Bodkin was charged for allegedly being in possession of crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply to another on Tuesday (Feb. 19).

     

    And Cleve David of Main Street, Charlestown was charged for Driving without insurance on Saturday (Feb. 16).
