…Astaphan explains
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A number of persons have expressed disappointment in the failure of a woman to appear last evening (Apr. 8) as a speaker on the Operation Rescue’s platform as was promised.
Operation Rescue founder and former Minister of Government, Dwyer Astaphan had indicated that the first speaker to appear on the platform at the Greenland’s Park public meeting would have been a female.
He had explained that the lady is neither a politician nor a political aspirant and that she had given an undertaking to appear on Operation’s Rescue’s platform last evening.
Some individuals with whom this publication came into contact indicated their disappointment with the no-show and have even suggested that it might have been a ploy on Operation Rescue’s part to drum up support from the public.
In a brief interview with SKNVibes today, Astaphan explained that the woman, who still remains anonymous to this publication, did make clear her commitment to participate in the public meeting but could not have done so because of circumstances beyond her control.
He further explained that she made known specific circumstances which led to her inability to participate and, while he is disappointed, he is satisfied that she did not purposefully forego speaking on the platform.
“It was not a ploy to try to get people to come. We don’t do things like that and we would never do things like that.”
Other persons who made contributions at the public meeting, include social commentator Washington’Washie’ Archibald, Richard Caines and Astaphan.
