BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A 39-year-old man is presently on trial at the Basseterre High Court for three counts of indecent assault allegedly committed against a female under the age of 14.
The offences were alleged to have been committed once in each of the following months - August, November and December 2010.
The trial began yesterday morning (May 15) with seven witnesses scheduled to testify, including the victim and Dr. Mervin Laws.
Six of them have already given evidence for the prosecution which is being led by Counsel Greatess Gordon.
The accused is being represented by Attorney-at-Law John Cato and would be given the opportunity to take the stand and/or call witnesses to give evidence on his behalf after the prosecution rests its case.
SKNVibes understands that the alleged incident took place in Conaree.
It is alleged that the accused was 'bunking' at the home of the victim and used to opportunity to commit the act while the other residents were asleep.
The trial continues on Tuesday (May 22) with the testimony of the final witness for the prosecution.
