Motorists patronise little Harzaney’s Medical Fundraising event

By: Precious Mills, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MANY motorists in St. Kitts took time off from the road yesterday (May 25) to patronise a Carwash Medical Fundraiser for 14-month-old Harzaney Marshall who was diagnosed with a tumour on his left kidney.

The Carwash, which was organised by the St. Thomas Trinity Strikers Football Club, was conducted on the Green Tree lawn in Verchild’s Village.

The line of vehicles comprised passengers’ buses, jeeps, cars and motorcycles.

A carwash sign was erected on the street next to the lawn and girls dressed in swimsuits with a modest touch of covered bikini bottoms flagged down vehicles and informed drivers about the fundraiser.

Noticeably, most of the females sported a beach look for the wet works.

Services were exterior washing and interior cleaning.

Children from the community also did their part in helping little Harzaney by working at the event.

While some motorists did not have the time to actually get their vehicles washed, some donated cash in show of support towards the worthy cause.

SKNVibes paid a visit to the Carwash that morning and discovered that the child’s mother, Sharlian Hendrickson, is a member of the St. Thomas Trinity Strikers female football team and her boyfriend (Harzaney’s father), Harzan Marshall, also plays the game, but for Challengers Village.

Hendrickson was pleased with the support of the public.

“Well, for this morning, the Carwash has been excellent. We’ve been getting a lot of support. People who are not taking part...they are giving their donations and we’re thankful for every little bit that we’re getting.”

The dedicated mother was also amongst those who partook in the washing and cleaning of vehicles.

Meanwhile, captain of the St. Thomas Trinity Strikers Football Club, Lance ‘Borderman’ Lewis, pointed out the sportsmanship drive of the team in coming up with the idea to have a cashwash, noting that both parents of the child play football.

At the time of SKNVibes’ visit, he said the event was going “pretty fine and it’s been really supportive by the public. We want to give thanks to them, especially for supporting. And keep supporting...it’s a continuous process. It does not stop here. It’s an ongoing fundraising.”

He informed that most of the support had been coming from members of the community.

Individuals who wish to contribute to this worthy cause may do so at the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank to the Harzaney Marshall Medical Fund...account number 10254764.

Additionally, Hendrickson can be reach at 1-869 -764-9487.

The energy of the Carwash team was kept lively with music provided by Mixclusive Sounds.
