BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CONFIRMING information earlier published by this media house about Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vaughan Henderson’s shift to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Attorney-General the Hon. Vincent Byron indicated that his recommendation for that appointment has already been forwarded to the relevant department.

Speaking recently with the media, Byron indicated that the decision of whether or not Henderson is appointed as Crown Counsel in the Office of the DPP would be made by the Judicial and Legal Services Commission (JLSC).

“I can say that he has been recommended to the HR; that has been accepted. HR has contacted the JLSC and we await the confirmation of Mr. Henderson as another prosecutor in the Office of the DPP.”

He said given Henderson’s experience as a police prosecutor, he would prove to be an asset to the DPP’s office.

“He comes with profound experience. He has been a police prosecutor already and his wide experience as a member of the Police Force is going to be a major asset to the office of the DPP.”

Henderson joined the Police Force as a Constable in 1993 and over the past several months had ascended to the position of ACP with responsibility for Operations. Among the noteworthy positions he previously held are Head of Traffic Department, Public Relations Officer and Sub-Divisional Commander for District ‘B’.

The ACP had obtained his Bachelor’s of Law Degree at the University of the West Indies in 2004 and his Legal Education Certificate in 2014 from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad. He was called to the Bar on Friday, November 7, 2014.

Henderson is one of two members of the Police High Command whose stint with the Police Force would soon end.
