Two convicted at traffic court

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Basseterre Traffic Court saw two individuals receiving convictions yesterday (Apr. 14) for traffic violations they committed during the latter part of last year.

     

    SKNVibes understands that these individuals, Kevin Edwards of Cayon and Mercedes Pi-Nieko of Wellington Road, appeared before His Honour Reginald Benjamin.
     
    Edwards, who was charged with driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving without a driver’s license and driving without insurance, was fined $200 to be paid within one month or serve 30 days in prison, $150 to be paid within seven days or serve 14 days in prison and $750 to be paid within two months or serve three months respectively.
     
    The offences were committed on September 11, 2015 and he was also disqualified from obtaining and or holding a driver’s license for 12 months.
     
    Pi-Nieko was convicted of driving without due care and attention which was committed on November 7, 2015. She was fined $1,000 and the sum was to be paid forthwith and in default she would have been required to serve four months at Her Majesty’s Prison.
     
    SKNVibes however understands that she was able to make the payment and was released by the court.
