Young woman killed in White Gate accident

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN 18-year-old woman has died in a road accident in the White Gate area, marking the latest traffic fatality in the Federation as authorities work to reduce the number of crashes.

Police identified the victim as Shanice Harvey of Dieppe Bay, who succumbed to her injuries after the vehicle she was in crashed. The van, carrying eight people—including the driver and seven passengers—was involved in the accident.

Several others sustained injuries, but police have yet to release specific details on their conditions.

Meanwhile, a middle-aged woman was struck by a car at Baker’s Corner on Wellington Road between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Police confirmed she is in stable condition and are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

This marks the third road fatality this year, following multiple accidents last year. Law enforcement officials continue to urge motorists to slow down and exercise caution on the roads.
