Updates on SKNFA’s Election of Office Bearers

One member casts his ballot

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association is today (Jun. 30) hosting its Ordinary Congress at the Marriott and four individuals will be vying for the position of President.

     

    Those vying for presidency are incumbent President Anthony Johnson, past President Peter Jenkins and Franklyn Maitland.
     
    He nominated individuals for the position of Vice President are Alistair Edwards, Leon Natta and Dennison Paul, while Don Grant and Techelle McLean will be contesting for the Second Vice President position.
     
    Seventeen individuals will be vying for the position of Executive Members of the football body. They are John Bergan, Andy Blanchette, Shamalo Byron, Franklyn Dorset, Fitzroy Eddy, Crios Freeman, Kevin Hope, Gerhon Joseph, Selwyn Liburd, Vernitha Maynard, Keithly Pemberton, Carlton Pinney, Raymond Smith, Dominic Stevens, Stuart Versailles, Corneil Williams and Kaven Williams.
     
    Johnson, who told this media house that he is confident of a second term as President of the Association, took office in March 2009 with Ellis Hazel as Vice President, Second Vice President Alistair Edwards and Executive Members Don Grant, Dominic Stevens, Raymond Smith, Leroy Hodge, Ken Martin and Troy Hendrickson.
     
    In the interest of the thousands of football fans and enthusiasts in the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, SKNVibes has decided to provide updates whilst the Elections are in progress.

    8:15 p.m. - Anthony Johnson presents his team, and in delivering his victory speech admonishes all to put their differences aside and work together for the good of football.
     

    8:00 p.m. - All votes completed and the seven Executive Members have been decided upon. All are from Anthony Johnson's team.  

     

    7:40 p.m. - Anthony Johnson takes a phone call informing the person on the other end of his victory. 

     

    7:39 p.m. - Voting underway for the seven Executive Members. 
     

    7:30 p.m. - Don Grant elected Second Vice President beating Tishell McClean. Grant got 14 votes as opposed to McClean's 11. 

     

    7:15 p.m. - Alistair Edwards elected First Vice President amassing 15 votes, beating Leon Nata (9) and Dennison Paul (1).
     
    6:56 p.m. - Dennison Paul withdraws nomination but the Election Team indicates that it is too late for him to do so.. However, he is free to encourage voters to throw their support behind another individual.
     
    6:53 p.m.   - Johnson says he is happy with the results and is also happy that the members have shown confidence in him, but the job is not yet finished. 
     
    6:51 p.m.   - Anthony johnson retains Presidency of SKNFA with 15 votes. Jenkins got seven and Maitland got four.
     
    6:45 p.m. - All the ballots are now being counted to ensure the box contains only the 26 votes.
     
    6:43 p.m. - Anthony Johnson still feels confident of victory despite all that occurred throughout the day’s proceedings. Currently the vote for presidency is taking place. 
     

    6:32 p.m. - A transparent Ballot Box has been shown to the Congress.

     

    630 p.m. - Voting for presidency about to begin. Candidates are the incumbent, Anthony Johnson, former President Peter Jenkins and Franklyn Maitland. All seem confident of victory! 

     

    6:00 p.m. - Members of the Executive leaving head table in preparation for election of a new Executive.

     

    5:38 p.m. - A member of the Congress suggested that the 2012 accounts which were circulated in the SKNFA 2013 Ordinary Congress booklet be recalled. 
     

    5:25 p.m. - Questions are being asked about why the 2012 accounts are being presented and those from 2011 and 2010 have yet to be completed. President Johnson suggested that his administration inherited a situation where there was difficulty in getting the accounts audited. 

     

    5:15  p.m. - The Congress is progressing slowly and with 19 items on the agenda. Item number 10,  "Presentation of the consolidated and revised balance sheet and the profit and loss statement",  is currently being discussed.he agenda. 

     

    4:24 p.m. - President Johnson about to give the President's Activity Report containing activities since the last Congress. 

     

    4:10 p.m. - No member club has been suspended or expelled from the body. Six are still however ineligible to vote. 
     
    4:08 p.m. - Six clubs have been deemed ineligible to vote because they did not participate in any SKNFA event for the past two years. United Old Road Strikers FC is one such club, but its representative claims that is not so. 
     
    3:57 p.m. - Currently the Congress is debating an impasse among member clubs in an attempt to clarify which clubs are eligible to vote.
     
    3:27 p.m. - Twenty-nine of 32 clubs are present for the Congress; thus a quorum has been established.
     
    2:32 p.m. - Presidency candidates Anthony Johnson and Franklyn Maitland are present awaiting the start of the SKNFA 2013 Ordinary Congress, while some members of his team are present.
