Crime dominates SKNVibes “Most Read Articles for 2013”

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - OVER the years, SKNVibes has provided a service to the Federation and the wider community, delivering news of notable happenings in a timely manner. And while articles related to education, sports, entertainment and politics have had their share of readership, those articles highlighting major criminal activities have made it to this publication’s “Most Read Articles for 2013”.

     

    This article aims to highlight the Top 10 articles posted on SKNVibes in 2013. The criterion these articles met which resulted in their selection for this article was that they received the most views of the thousands of articles posted on www.sknvibes.com 
     
    10. The brother of Kittitian sprint icon Kim Collins, Winston Calistus Browne, was shot by police in vicinity of Clico Housing Project on January 22. He was shot after he had reportedly stabbed his estranged wife and had run into some bushes. Information gathered about that incident was published in an article headlined “Man shot by police dies in St. Peter’s Parish”. That was SKNVibes’ 10th most read article for 2013.
     
    9. In the Number Nine Article, two women were amongst four individual who were charged by the authorities for their alleged possession of ammunition, firearms and cannabis. http://www.sknvibes.com/news/newsdetails.cfm/80990
     
    8. Jelani Williams of Lime Kiln suffered a fatal stab wound in the region of his chest on January 2 while at the Bus Terminal/Ferry Terminal in Basseterre. “Stabbing victim dies at JNF Hospital” was the name of the article which was written on that incident and it was the eighth most-read article for 2013.
     
    6,7. “Police investigate apparent suicide of schoogirl” – an article which spoke to the hanging of Azaria Hanley, was sixth on the list of most read articles and “Upper Monkey Hill youth stabbed on ‘De Strip’, which provides some details on the death of 19-year-old Colin Merchant was seventh.
     
    5. On March 23 a Guyanese national residing within the Federation was shot in the face while on the premises of his then place of employ, Builders Paradise, allegedly by his supervisor. The article written informing the public of that happening “Supervisor shoots Builders Paradise employee in face” was the fifth most read story.
     
    4. Little Kadeem Pereira of Godwin Estate went missing in early October and two days later he was discovered dead in a clump of bushes in Halfway Tree. He was only 10 years of age and the initial article which informed of his demise “BREAKING NEWS: Missing 10-year-old found dead in Half Way Tree” was the fourth most read article for 2013.
     
    3. The third most read article was one posted in March. Though not an “in house” article, it captured the attention of many readers who were obviously interested in the details of the twisted quirk of circumstance which involved a woman in Orlando, Florida who tried to eat a man’s penis. http://www.sknvibes.com/news/newsdetails.cfm/71599
     
    2. The sound of gunshots rang out on Sunday June 2 and word spread like wildfire through the Federation that Sheldon 'Sword' Cannonier was gunned down in cold blood. He was pronounced dead on the scene and that article “Sword killed in Lime Kiln” was this publication’s second most read article for the past year.
     
    1. On January 22, 2013, the people of Nevis took to the polls and selected the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) to handle the affairs of that island. This publication provided timely and in depth coverage of the Polling Day activities via an article “Update on Nevis Election...Victory for CCM” This was SKNVibes most read article for 2013.
     
    All articles mentioned above were constructed by staff of this publication barring that which spoke of the woman who chewed on a man’s private part.
